I am a hand embroiderer with a great love of stitch – especially gold work embroidery. I love to find inspiration from the rich tradition of hand embroidery and use this to find my own contemporary approach to hand stitch. I studied Hand Embroidery at the Royal School of Needlework, and then studied Contemporary Craft at Falmouth University, allowing me combine my interest in both traditional and modern approaches.
After graduating in the summer of 2014, I was selected for the Embroiderers Guild Graduate Showcase 2014 and I have exhibited nationally since then, including at Handmade in Britain, Art in Action and the Living Crafts at Hatfield house and a solo exhibition at Sunbury Embroidery Gallery.
I love sharing my enthusiasm for embroidery with others. I teach experimental goldwork embroidery nationwide, including Ardinton School of Craft in Oxfordshire and Westhope College in Shropshire. I am really excited to be speaking at the Shropshire Embroiderers Guild AGM in September next year, and to be the speaker at the Guild’s West Midland Regional Day in 2017. I also speak and deliver workshops to students at colleges and Universities across the country.
