Throughout Open Studios 2017 I will be showing my original prints and books. There will also be an exhibition of Artists Books on display made by other artists. My subject matter (much of it figurative) evolves through projects I am involved with, observation, people I meet, memory fragments shared & stories told. Dance, performance, the figure in action and childhood, are all rich sources of inspiration. My aim is to reinterpret the familiar while constantly developing my work. Recently I have been using traditional lithography and letterpress printing using Victorian wooden typefaces. Throughout Open studios weekends there will be demonstrations of the techniques I use to create prints and a chance to discover different methods of making prints, why printmaking is always exciting and how it can influence design processes.
Art Education… I studied Graphic Design & Illustration at Camberwell School of Art followed by postgraduate printmaking at Brighton College of Art. I gained MA (dist.) in Art & Education at UCE. & taught art and ran workshops in a variety of therapeutic and community contexts. I now focus on my own work making original prints & artists books using traditional printmaking methods combined with watercolour and 21st century technology. I exhibit regularly (my work is in The Dotty Dog Gallery in Shrewsbury) and I am a member of The Regional Print Centre and Mbag (Marches Book Arts Group)
